About Sarn Pottery

Sarn Pottery
is situated in the small historic North Wales village of Sarn Meyllteyrn opposite the Penhryn Arms Hotel. Here in this picturesque setting, half way between Pwllheli and Aberdaron on the B4413,
Oldřich Ašenbryl, an attraction in himself, welcomes you to his Gallery and Pottery of fine stoneware and porcelain. Come and see the potter at work and enjoy some of the finest selection of handmade pottery in Wales. The pottery is housed in a 16th century stable with its original pebble stone floor.
Two different stoneware clays are used; white and dark brown for high temperature (up to 1320 Centigrade). Porcelain is also used for one-off sculptures. The glazes are mixed from some of the locally found materials such as wood ashes and red clay from nearby Hell’s Mouth beach. The typical Sarn red glaze is achieved with the use of copper oxide. Cobalt, iron, vanadium and chrome oxides are also used for on-glaze decoration.

The Showroom

(open every day between 9am and 5 pm )
The 16th century stable, wonderful music and eccentric humour of the potter all provide a "truly theatrical setting" in which to view his work. Collectors and customers come from every continent to visit the pottery. Wherever civilization reigns you will find people eating off Sarn pottery plates. Sarn ceramics have been exhibited and collected all over the world.

Why not call in and see Oldřich in action!
